Remember last weekend when it snowed like 2 feet, it was bitterly cold and the roads were crap? Well that seemed like the perfect time to break out the warmest of winter gear and head to The Moth Cafe for breakfast.
First Impressions
Once you step inside The Moth Cafe you realize quite quickly that it is a healthy place. A new age place. A place for plant based food and not a slice of meat in sight (sorry meat lovers)! It feels clam, centred, and a lot like my restorative yoga classes. I mean, there's even a raised cozy corner where you can relax on a sofa or in a knotted swing!
The Food
The Moth Cafe has a very extensive menu. You can choose from small bites, mains, noodle soups, and breakfast food. If you're in the mood for a drink, they have a variety of tea lattes, fresh ice blends, kombucha bar, medicinal tea, coffee, and a gin & tonic cocktail list!
My friend and I opted for the breakfast menu and were very pleased with our meals. The food was delicate. That is truly the best way to put it. It was gentle and appealing. The flavors were soft and not over powering, yet our meal was still seasoned well–it was anything but bland. It tasted healthy, felt nurturing, and healing. Plus, the side of cashew sauce really helped to pull everything together–I definitely recommend that you get it!
The Service & Ambience
Our service was satisfactory. Our server was kind, efficient, and helpful–considering he was not yet familiar with the whole menu. The ambience was pleasing as the environment was clam and airy. Imagine the Moth Cafe as a place that you arrive at to unwind and nourish your body.
Overall Experience
Being that The Moth Cafe is vegetarian and vegan, I was very surprised that I didn't miss having meat in my meal. I left feeling satisfied, calm, and happy. If you imagine the environment to be holistic, that's exactly what it is. It is a no-frills, healthy, environmentally conscious establishment that promises to feed and nurture your soul, as well as open your eyes to the world of plant-based eating. If you're hesitant about trying it, I say "give it a try"! Then let me know in the comments below how your experience was ;)

The bathrooms are gender neutral–how nice! And the bathroom sink is beautiful (just had to add that in!)
